Hi, I’m Soussan – the cook, creator, and heart behind Foodies Journal.
Growing up in a big family, food was everything. Our table was always full, our gatherings always loud, and cooking was the way we showed love. Inspired by my Lebanese roots and years spent in the kitchen; I started Foodies Journal as a place to share home-cooked recipes and family favourites. But over time, something more personal took shape—my own handcrafted spice blends.
Each blend tells a story, starting with my Mansaf Spice. Mansaf was always the king of the table at every family dinner. But recreating it took over 10 different spices, many of them expensive and rarely used outside that dish. After years of cooking, testing, and adjusting, I created a perfectly balanced blend that captured the full, rich flavour of traditional Mansaf rice—without the waste or guesswork. My community loved it, and I knew I had to share it. Now, with just one spoon of this mix, anyone can bring that nostalgic flavour into their home.
Then came my Roast Mix—a personal favourite, made exactly how I love it. I wanted something bold, tangy, and adaptable across everything from chicken and lamb to fish and veggies. I carefully selected and finely ground each spice so it wouldn’t burn during roasting or BBQing. When combined with oil, it becomes a smooth, rich marinade that soaks in quickly and deeply. It’s also perfect for adding to flour or crumbs for flavour-packed coatings. It’s the blend I reach for every week—and now it’s yours too.
At Foodies Journal, every blend is made in small batches here in Australia, with real heart behind every ingredient. These aren’t just spice mixes—they’re tools to make home cooking easier, tastier, and filled with love.
